Marlborough Downs

Marlborough Downs Mountain Boarding Centre opened for one month in August 2003 as a trial project. Under the supervision of two world champions from America two tracks were developed on the south facing chalk downs between Pewsey and Devizes, in Wiltshire. One is encouraging for beginners and one is more exciting, demanding and challenging for the more advanced rider. The centre has qualified male and female instructors offering instruction and support, whilst ensuring equipment is safe and comfortable to wear. A range of mountain boards, protection pads and helmets can be hired for both adults and children and we can cater for special occasions such as birthday parties.

For novice riders there is the grass-covered training slope with small jumps and padded bails for learning in safety. What makes Out To Grass special is how it provides for these two types of mountain boarders; experienced riders get technically challenging tracks, and beginners get a safe learning slope with qualified instructors. For beginners we offer lessons for individuals, small groups, or party bookings of eight or more.

Redhill Extreme

Once you’re all setup with pads and a helmet and have been issued with a board, you will be taken onto the nursery slope. Our nursery slope has a gentle gradient with a good width with a long grass and then earth barrier at the bottom, so you’re not going to crash into anyone or anything. The grass is kept short for a smooth ride and the tyre pressure on your board will be low so that you can’t race away completely out of control. After being shown how to attach your leash and the correct foot position in the bindings, the lesson will begin. During the lesson you will learn how to start and stop, turn and generally control the board and your speed. Everything will be thoroughly explained and demonstrated by your instructor. We have built runs and small tracks specifically for beginners, they contain features such as rollers, small table tops, doubles (easily rollable) and small berms (banked corners). Certain parts are very easy and others are more challenging, hopefully you should find enough to keep you entertained for a few hours.
